Joe Network: FIOS OpenDns setting location for faster internet:

If you are on an ActionTec then it is under

My Network > Network Connections > Broadband Connection (ether Ethernet or Coax) > Settings button (on bottom) > Drop down for DNS Server (use the following DNS server addresses).
You can then put the OpenDNS servers there.

I started that way and went back to the Verizon addresses as they seemed to work better. But you can make whatever decision you want. (10/16/07)

Mac Pro: Tech Tip #1 - Access Win2003 share from Mac.

From Administrative Tools, open Domain Controller Security Settings.?Go to Local Policies then Security Options.
Scroll down to find the entry Microsoft network server: Digitally sign communications (always). Set this to Disabled.
The only thing left to do is to reload the security policy, as changes don’t otherwise take effect for some time. Open up a command window and type:
gpupdate
------------------------------
From Mac Go -> connect to server -> smb://192.168.1.110
(make sure your permissions are setup on 2003 network shares)
(make sure user and password are setup in AD or Users for XP - must have password) (07/28/07)

Mac Pro: Tech Tip #2 - Verizon Fios Wireless Setup. 1.) Setup wep wireless security. 2.) Set up ssid broadcast to disable and change the default ssid. 3.) Enable Mac address filtering. This will fix wireless connections from being dropped. (07/30/07)

Mac Pro: Tech Tip # 3 - How to reset OS X Password. If you've ever forgotten your user account password in OS X, the process is simple of resetting or changing your password. All you need is to remember your username and reboot your computer. From there it's command line work:
      Hold Apple+S when booting
    type sh /etc/rc (enter)
    type passwd yourusername (enter)
    type reboot (enter)
The only major downside to resetting your password this way is that you'll lose all keychain passwords, but if you've really forgotten your password, it's better than nothing. (07/30/07)
